COMMAND AND REQUEST

COMMAND SENTENCE
Command is a sentence that orders someone to do something. It ends with a period (.) or an exclamation mark (!)
1.        Second Personal Imperative
a.         Verbal Sentence
(+) V1 + O
(-) Don’t + V1 + O
b.         Nominal Sentence
(+) Be + Nonverb
(-) Don’t Be + Nonverb
2.        First Person Imperative
(+) Let Us + V1 + O
(-) Let Us + Not + V1 + O
Example:
1.        You must help your mom.
Command sentence: Help your mom!
2.        You shouldn’t do that.
Command sentence: Don’t do that!
3.        We had better study together.
Command sentence: Let’s study together.
4.        You mustn’t arrogant.
Command sentence: Don’t be arrogant!
5.        You ought to be polite.
Command sentence: Be a polite man.
6.        We don’t have to be there.
Command sentence: Let’s not be there.
7.        You have to obey your father even when he seems to strict.
Command sentence: Obey your father!
8.        We should take care of our earth.
Command sentence: Let’s save our earth.
9.        You shouldn’t be like that.
Command sentence: Don’t be like that!
10.    You must make your parent proud of you.
Command sentence: Make proud your parent!

REQUEST
Request  is a sentence that asks someone to do something. It ends with a period (.) or a question mark (?).
1.        Request with “I” as the subject.
Example: May/Could/Can + I + borrow your pen?
2.        Request with “You” as the subject.
Example: Would/Will/Could/Can + You + lend me your novel?
Example :
1.        You want to ask your tutor a question.
Request sentence: May I ask a question?
2.        You are at your friends house. You want to use the phone.
Request sentence: Can I use the phone?
3.        You are at restaurant, you’ve finished the meal, you ask the waiter for the bill.
Request sentence: Could you give me the bill?
4.        You knock on your tutor’s half opem door. He’s sitting at his desk.
Request sentence: May I come in?
5.        You want to see Agung’s dictionary.
Request sentence: May I borrow your dictionary?
6.        You are in class, you are hot, you are talking to your friend.
Request sentence: Will you turn on the air conditioner?
